Cookies

A few cookies, clearly explained.

What cookies this website uses, why, and how to change your choices.

What cookies are

Small files a website saves on your device so it can remember things, such as your cookie choice or which pages you've visited. Similar technology, like your browser's local storage, works the same way, so we cover it here too.

How we ask

When you first visit, a banner asks for your choice. Nothing except essential storage is set until you click Accept. If you click Reject, no analytics tools load at all.

Essential (always on)

  • doas_consent_v1 (this website, local storage): remembers your cookie choice. Kept for 6 months.
  • doas_bar_closed (this website, local storage): remembers if you closed the quiz banner. Kept until you clear your browser data.
  • WordPress cookies (this website): only set if you log in to the site.

Analytics (only if you accept)

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*): counts visits and shows which pages are useful. Kept for up to 2 years.
  • Google Tag Manager: loads our Google tags. It doesn't store personal data itself.
  • Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk, CLID, MUID): heatmaps and anonymised session recordings so we can see where pages are confusing. Kept for up to 1 year.

Third-party features

  • Cal.com (booking calendar on our contact page): Cal.com may set its own cookies when you use the calendar to book a call. See Cal.com's privacy policy.
  • YouTube (video on our Press & Speaking page): embedded in privacy-enhanced mode, so YouTube only sets cookies if you play the video.
  • WhatsApp: the chat button opens WhatsApp, run by Meta. We don't set any cookies for it.

Changing your choice

Click Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change your mind at any time, or clear cookies in your browser settings.
